Today's Flowers

The wild orchid Pholidata imbricata  which I had brought from one of my treks in the forests of the Western Ghats is putting out chains of tiny white flowers.
Yellow Allamanda is bright and cheerful.
Ants seem to find the petals of the hibiscus tasty.

X for Extra Bright

The bright Xerochrysum bracteatum flowers line the hills of Ooty in summer.

Today's Flowers

Bixa shrubs are planted along some roads in my suburb. An edible red dye is made from the pods.
Canna indica now comes in dwarf sizes. I was pleasantly surprised to come across this old fashioned, long legged beauty in a vacant plot.
Now that it is raining everyday, the Crinum lilies are blooming profusely in my garden. They also have 5 foot long stalks.
My thanks to the team of Today's Flowers, where we can see what is blooming in different parts of the world.

W for Weaving

Warp and Weft on the weaver's loom will make a white sari with a golden border.
The silk used here is a special wild silk called Munga, which has become very rare.
My thanks to Mrs. Nesbitt and her wonderful team for hosting ABCWednesday.

V for Vegetable Carving

Little children of Class I had a competition of vegetable carving, where they gave vent to their vivid imaginations.
The villainous visage of the vile pumpkin vied with the winsome doggie.
Though they make faces while eating the veggies, the kids were very vivacious while crafting their sculptures!
My thanks to Mrs.Nesbitt and the team of ABC Wednesday, which has brought anticipation and joy.

Blogger's Block

 Cactus flower
 Crinum lily
Butea in flower during the searing summer and drought.
Is there something called the Blogger's Block, similar to the writer's block? I seem to have had a bout of that malady.Amazingly, the Monsoon rains seemed to have lifted the block! So here I am with a set of flowers which are blooming in various parts of my city, although the Butea has stopped flowering now and is preparing for vegetative growth.
You can see what else is flowering in other parts of the world at Today's Flowers.
