I like Ixora

 Ixora is a wildflower of the rainforeests of the Western Ghats. It was named Ixoraby the Portuguese because they saw the local people of Goa offering it at the temple of Ishwara.

 The gardener can get many colours of Ixora except blue.With thanks to Mrs.Nesbitt who initiated ABCWednesday, and to the inimitable Roger and innumerable others in the team.

Our World Tuesday- Yoga

Co-operation

 Co-opeation and team work is not the prerogative of humans. Insects like the weaver ants show it in full measure.

 I watched fascinated when the ants built their nest using the leaves of my Ixora plant. Some ants held the leaves together while some sealed them with the saliva of a young ant.

 Finally, their home was ready- a safe haven which keeps them dry even during the raging monsoon storms.

Forests are Fun

 I am fascinated by forests, whether it is the fir and deodar forest of the Himalayas,

 or the fabulous rainforests of the Western Ghats,

 or the famous forest of Rudyard Kipling in Madhya Pradesh, where you can see a tiger if you are lucky. I saw only some deer:)

 This fiery forest flower is a clerodendrum.

 I was fascinated by the flamingos which flocked to the forest creek to feed on their favourite fish.

 I found this Echeveria in a crevice in the rocks when we had gone for a picnic.

 

.Euphorbia comes in a range of colours. It is also known as the Crown of Thorns. It is the lazy gardener's  choice as it does not need much care.

I found this Eranthemum in the wild in Bhimbetka.
