Makara Sankranti
Today is Makara Sankranti, a festival connected with the sun, which is observed with gusto all over India. Here, in Karnataka, women and girls go from house to house destributing sesame seeds, jaggery and copra, and pieces of sugarcane, and wishing luck and prosperity for their friends. In the evening, a great bonfire is built around which people gather to great each other and have a good time. Nowadays, bonfires are built only in villages.Wishing you a happy and prosperous year ahead.
I am linking this to Shadow shot Sunday and Today's Flowers.

Weekend Reflections
The Jarokha is the trellis work stone window found in many palaces in India. The thick walls would keep the place cool, and prevent rain water from coming in. You can see many beautiful reflections at James! Weekend Reflections.

The ZZ Plant
Zamioculas zamifolia is a tropical ornamental plant which can stay without water for up to a fortnight. Its leaves are always shiny and bright. This is my contribution to ABC Wednesday today.
