Potters' Town

Last Saturday I had been to Potters' Town, which is at the other end of the city. It is a centuries old settlement of potters, who make earthenware. There are decorative planters, figurines, jars and many other things in the shops, all made of terracotta. I bought these earthenware things besides some plant holders. The pot on top is an urli made of clay and painted to look like antique bronze. People in South India keep flowers in water in it and place in the entrance hall of their homes, to welcome visitors.
This is a clay bird feeder in which I have put flaked rice, moong beans and other seeds for the birds. I think the squirrles are polishing off the grains every day.

  1. Double whammy for the squirrels! All those fruits in your garden plus the bird feed! The floating flower arrangement is very pretty.

  2. The first pot with the floating flowers is just beautiful, it sure would be a welcoming sight. The bird feeder is really pretty too. I guess those squirrels are everywhere in everyones bird feeders.

  3. Today I saw the crow partridge hiding among the leaves, waiting to catch a squirrel! I don't think it caught any, but it sure dropped the lid of the birdfeeder and broke it.

There's something about terracotta I like.
    Nice collection you have.

Now a crow partridge would be interesting to see( just looking at your comment above).

  5. Patsi, I'll post a picture of the crow partridge as soon as I can get one. So far, I have not been able to take a single picture of them.
