Alpinia blossom
This beauty appears once a year on the plant, which is quite striking with its yellow and green leaves. It is called Shell Ginger, as the flowers resemble shells.
I'm waiting for mine to appear for the very first time. I've had the plant for over a year now and it's been a very slow grower. Your photo makes me even more keen to see mine flower.
what an amazing flower you have introduced me to tonight...and it blooms only once each year. so glad you were “johnny on the spot” with your camera to capture it. beautiful photography. genie
How exciting to get a shot of a blossom that blooms only once a year.

ReplyDeleteAnu, thanks for your comment. I tried to leave a comment on your blog, but I was unsuccessful.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is beautiful. How long does that stay open if it only blooms once a year?
ReplyDeleteDoes it have a specific season or can the blooms appear all year long? It is so beautiful, I'd want them always!
