Water Reflections

With the scorching summer that we are experiencing here, there are water shortages everywhere. My borewell which watered my garden faithfully for ten years, has suddenly run dry. Today's early morning showers have brought some relief to the plants , although it was not sufficient to fill up our dwindling village pond.
This is my contribution to this week's Weekend Reflections. I hope I'll be able to connect with the linky this time.

Our World- Fearless Egrets

Farmers are friends of egrets. When this farmer was cutting the grass in a swamp, a group of egrets surrounded him to feast on the insects which were being disturbed by him.
The farmer cut huge heaps of grass to take away for his cattle. The egrets were still feasting.
My thanks to Sylvia and her team for hosting Our World Tuesday.
I am also contributing this to World Bird Wednesday.

Weekend Reflections- Flamingos

The reflections of the flamingos were pinker than the birds themselves.
My thanks to James at Weekend Reflections for hosting this wonderful meme.

Cormorants Watching

From a distance, they look like crows, sitting patiently on the poles , waiting for the fish to surface.
The cormorants have other competitors like the storks and the egrets, all waiting for a juicy morsel.
However, the cormorants are the smartest anglers. I have seen one bird catch and swallow a fish bigger than itself, in a smooth operation.
This is my contribution to this week's Our World Tuesday and World Bird Wednesday.

Today's Flowers from Other Gardens

These huge dahlias were blooming in a garden in Indore.
The blue shade of the Thunbergia bengalensis is very soothing.

Orchids and bromeliads from a garden in Mumbai.
You can see gorgeous pictures of flowers at Today's Flowers.

The Powai Lake mirrors a small part of Mumbai.
My thanks to James at Weekend Reflections where you can enjoy beautiful images from all over the world.
