ABC Wednesday-U

I am in utter confusion about the Umbrella Plant.
Some call this ubiquitous, undercover weedthe umbrella plant.
Some others state unequivocally that this is the original one. Undoubtedly, one of them is a usurper. U decide for yourself. It is not urgent.
My thanks to the team of ABC Wednesday.

  2. This first photo is actually a papyrus, which I have heard called umbrella plant. The second is a scheffleria which is also sometimes called the umbrella plant. I'm like you - who's to decide?

  3. Here in Oz we call Scheffleras Umbrella Plants. The Papyrus we just call 'Weed'. It pops up everywhere and does tend to take over pretty quickly.

  15. I see very opinions about these plants, but the correct botanical name is: Cyperus alternifolius and Schefflera octophylla. Have a nice day
