G for Gardens

Sim's Park in Coonoor in the Nilgiris was built in the 19th century by the British gardeners. It is built on a steep hillside, without interfering much with the contour of the land. It is a happy blend of native  and exotic plants. It is the most beautiful garden I have ever seen, although many others are more famous.
A romantic pathway in a garden in Ooty.
The municipal garden surrounding the historic palace of Tipu Sultan in Bangalore. The gardeners here have created an island of quiet in the centre of the busy and chaotic City Market. They have taken the path of least maintenance.
A Chinese garden in Hong Kong . These gardens are not places of stillness and peace , unlike the Japanese gardens.
