First Blooming Friday 2010

Tropical flowers have begun to bloom in my garden. This heliconium is the first one this year
The Mother-in-law's tTongue Sanseveria cylindrica is in full bloom now as springtime has started.

Thunbergia grandiflora is flowering profusely on fences.

The Sanchesia never went to sleep. Here it is with more flowers welcoming the new year.

The Coral vine makes a splash of bright colour on my back fence.
Wish you a very happy 2010 and lots of flowers and fruit in your garden!

  1. I remember when I visited the Eden project in Cornwall, England, and saw blooming Helliconiums for the first time - it was such a colorful sight! The flowers of the Thunbergia are so pretty!

    Happy New Year!

Cecilia, thanks for visiting my site and your comment. I remember the beautiful garden in Algeciras when I visited Spain many years ago. Happy New Tear!

  5. Beautiful! My Sanseveria rarely flowers. I like the way the black-eyed susan is peeping from amidst the heliconia clump!

  8. Lucky you! What pretty flowers. I had no idea Mother in law's tongues flowered. I saw them once at a nursery and showed them to my husband, but he didn't think the name was as funny as I did :)

  12. Dear kaki,

A Very Happy New Year to you.
Your blogspot is absolutely wonderful....I have been wanting to post comments for a while now but have only just managed to act on it.
I love the pictures you post with the ability to zoom-in for more detail. I must confess it is hard to remember the names of all the plants and flowers even though I would love to. Our garden in Melbourne has very few flowering plants and tends to be low maintenance. With global warming, climbing temperatures, and drought conditions we need to focus on a more suitable garden for these conditions. Im sure you will have plenty of tips for me.
Your 'trumpet tree' dedication to kaka was beautiful, so apt for someone with a love for gardening.

Hope to learn more from you when I get a chance.

    Love,
    Shubha
