My World- Brooms and Baskets

I found these eco-friendly brooms and baskets made out of plant material in a shop in the Bazaar. The brooms at the centre of the picture are made from the spines of the coconut leaves, and the pale brooms next to them are made from a special kind of grass which grows in the jungle. The baskets are woven from bamboo. The brooms at the extreme left hand corner are the most expensive. They are made from a special grass imported from Assam. These brooms and baskets are essential tools in gardens.
My thanks to Sylvia, Klaus, Sandy, Wren and the Fishing Guy for hosting My World.

  1. Really nice collection there. I can't understand why brooms made of (the spine of) coconut leaves are not sold in our markets here. We have to make our own or I give the leaves to my help who in turn gets it made elsewhere for a small fee!

    Hope your day is good!!

  6. These are lovely - my mum uses them (in Kerala) and those are made from Coconut tree leaves. I've always thought baskets like these add so much character to a kitchen.

You have a nice blog here!

  7. Such pretty baskets. Here in California, I've only seen broom made of straw or plasic. Those are quite lovely.

  8. I use eco-friendly brooms made of broom grass. There are many natural items made of bamboo, reed, wisteria vine, and other grass.

Regarding your comment on my blog, I'm very much interested in purple Himalayan irises.
I've seen a picture of bule Himalayan poppies. They were incredibly beautiful.

    Have a happy week!

  11. I love to be eco-friendly. In Japan, most of people use electric cleaners to clean inside a house. But in cleaning a garden, we use brooms made of natural materials like bamboo. I feel better when I use a broom. But, it is hard to resist efficiency of electric cleaner. Thank you for your ispiring blog.
    Lotusleaf, have a nice day!
