The Flamingos of Airoli

Every year, during this season, flocks of flamingos arrive in the outskirts of Mumbai from the colder places in the northern latitudes. I was lucky to see them last Saturday, as I was convalescing in Mumbai at the time.
Since it was hardly a week since the welcome visitors had arrived to browse in the mud flats of the Airoli creek, they hadn't yet got their bright pink colour.. ...
although some of the birds did look as though they had just played Holi, which had been played with the usual gusto by Indians, a few days back.
This is my first contribution to World Bird Wednesday, where you can see birds from different parts of our planet.
