D is for Danaid Eggfly butterfly Hypolimnas misippus which is a great mimic. The male butterfly has large white 'eyes' on its wings to scare away the predators, and the female mimics other unpalatable butterflies.
By daring and deceit, the Danaid Eggfly dominates the sun-drenched gardens.

What a neat butterfly. I love the velvety brown wings with nice markings.

Seriously: I saw a bird (a hawk of some sort) in my back yard this week with very similar coloring.

Nice capture. Butterflies can be a challenge to photograph. Interesting tidbit about the male's white spots.
