Our World- Wild Flowers of the Western Ghats

The Western Ghats are a series of mountain ranges on the west coast of India. The place is one of the bio diversity hotspots of the world. The Gloriosa superba lily is endemic to the region.
This is a ginger which is found only in the deep rainforests of this region.
Many wildflowers like the one above, have no names. They appear only during the monsoons.

Begonias are found on the slopes of the mountains.
The Globba ginger is another ginger native to the region.
I thank the team of Our World Tuesday and ABC Wednesday for their wonderful memes.

  1. I've grown the lovely Gloriosa lily as a conservatory plant - it must be wonderful to see it growing in the wild. I really like the way the leaf tips act as tendils.

  2. All are beautiful!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

  3. Lovely flowers, beautiful colors and delightful captures for the day! I hope your week is going well! Enjoy your evening!

  4. The Western Ghats will set the forest on 'fire'. Lovely wildflowers!

  8. Always lovely flowers to see in your post! Very nice pics

  9. Really pretty wild flowers.

  10. How neat to see ginger plants. I eat quite a lot of ginger, but have never seen the plant that it comes from. It was interesting to learn that plants like Begonias grow both in India and here in Vancouver as well (B.C.) A fascinating glimpse of India's west coast. Thank you!

  11. Sounds a wonderful place to visit and enjoy the wild flowers. Begonias are only annual garden plants here, my friend always plants loads of them and would probably be in floral heaven to see them grow wild.

  12. Lovely collection of floral shots.

Thank you for participating in Floral Friday Fotos!

  13. Ah, that Gloriosa superba lily - I'm in love! What a beautiful flower. It reminds me of fireworks (only much, much quieter). :-)

They're all beautiful. That begonia is such a delicate color, and since I"m a huge fan of ginger it's lovely to see the ginger blossoms. I'm also a fellow fan of wildflowers so I really enjoyed your photographs and the chance to see wildflowers from a different part of the world, and love that your garden is organic and critter-friendly! Yay!
