Kadamba Tree

What looks like a tennis ball is the flower of the Kadamba tree, Nauclea cadamba .This tree near my home is now full of these green tennis ball flowers, which turn a folden yellow in February.
The Kadamba has historical significance- it was the emblem of the great Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi who ruled Karnataka and Goa a thousand years ago. The Kadamba kings were great builders and architects. Many roads and temples built by them are still in use in Goa and Karnataka. The Goa state transport buses are named after this tree.
The flowers and fruit are edible, and attract birds and bees. The leaves contain two alkaloids which are useful in the treatment of diabetes. The dried bark is used to bring down fever.

  8. The Divine Mother, Sri Lalita Devi, is often portrayed sporting a bouquet of kadamba blossoms behind each ear. The kadamba tree is one of her favorite trees.

  20. Accidentally I came across your site. While searching for different search engines other than google I stumbled on your site.
Its really good to see a nature lover providing information than the type casted professionals .
I am attracted towards this tree in particular because this is in my garden . Providing me ample shade a good cleaning work cum exercise in the morning.
Every day throwing away riped fruits & ample heap of leaves hurt me. Especially I notice its edibility when I see rats eating this fruit in the night time .
Hence I was searching for its medicinal uses and how to use it. Can I eat the fruit.?
All the sites are providing half hearted information.
Can you tell me how to use it in day to day things . I am running 63 years and have a border case of blood sugar , .
    Regards
    Vivek
