Alpinia blossom

This beauty appears once a year on the plant, which is quite striking with its yellow and green leaves. It is called Shell Ginger, as the flowers resemble shells.
Tis is my contribution to Macro Monday.

  3. I'm waiting for mine to appear for the very first time. I've had the plant for over a year now and it's been a very slow grower. Your photo makes me even more keen to see mine flower.

  6. Wow, that is beautiful. How long does that stay open if it only blooms once a year?

  7. Does it have a specific season or can the blooms appear all year long? It is so beautiful, I'd want them always!
