Bloom Day -June 2010

The monsoon rains have brought relief to all, and everywhere it is green. The Milk and Honey Lily is blooming in clumps and perfuming the garden.
The Lobster Claw Heliconium is putting out more flowers. Their bright colour is very cheerful in the rainy weather.

The blue Plumbago flowers in all seasons.

The Firecracker plant has lots of pretty , unscented flowers. They complement the heady jasmine in a garland for the gods.

The Sanchezia is happily growing bigger and putting out brilliantly coloured flowers.
Everywhere in the garden, there is growth and happiness, thanks to the monsoon rains.
Thanks to Carol at May Dreams Garden for hosting the Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day.

  2. Your flowers look so cheerful! I, too, have a similar lily but mine blooms at the mid-monsoon break, around late July, and I have never noticed the fragrance! My plumbago hates the monsoon season; maybe, I should shelter it from the rain.

  4. It's so interesting to notice how different plants you and I grow! I simply love your exotic flowers and would love to be able to grow them. The Plumbago, for instance - we can have it as a potted house plant, but it's not really the same...

  6. Wow! What lush blooms you have! I've never seen Lobster Claw Heliconium--very cool. I love blue plumbago and have it at home in Austin, Texas, USA and have seen it here on our Portugal visit, too.

  7. Sylvia, sometimes the intense colour of the tropicals wearies me, and I wish I could grow some blue flowers!
Shailaja, this lily has a distinct lily-of-the valley type perfume.
    Thank you, Kanak.
    Costas, thanks for your visit.
Katarina, i love soft colours, but all my flowers seem to have bright colours!
Malar, the Sanchezia's leaves are also very striking, as well as the flowers.
Iris, have a happy holiday in Portugal!
