Wildlife Wednesday
With the onset of the monsoons, insects as well as birds and squirrels are hoarding food. These brown butterflies were busy loading themselves wit sugar from this over- ripe mango fallen under the tree. You can see the ants' nest besides the mango.
There were six of them at one time, but my stealthy arrival warned them and some flew away.
The resident male Eggfly butterfly did not bother about these brown ones. He was busy taking a nap in the watery sunlight.
Oh that sleepy butterfly... maybe after a good meal ha ha... It is strange to see three butterflies at one place. Usually birds stay together but not butterflies
I loved the photos lotusleaf. Those are interesting markings on the butterflies especially that last one. I read that if you put out banana that was frozen and then defrosted it would attract butterflies into my garden - but so far the only thing I've attracted are wasps. Do you get wasps on those mangos aswell as butterflies.
I've never photographed that many butterflies at one place. Wow...what luck! I have them feeding on guavas and the fruit of the palm tree.I like the Eggfly shot too. Difficult to get them with the wings open. You did a great job!
Nice butterflies!

ReplyDeleteGood photos - it is so hard to catch butterflies. Ours always close their wings up as soon as I approach with the camera.
